A vibrant and forward-thinking secondary school in Bicester, Oxfordshire, currently rated as ‘GOOD’ by Ofsted, is seeking a dynamic and inspirational Head of English to join their committed team on a permanent basis from September 2024.

The Head of English will lead a dynamic department and will be responsible for driving the standards of teaching and learning, curriculum development, and overall performance within the English department. This is a pivotal role in the school, requiring a commitment to enhancing student engagement and achieving outstanding results.

Key Responsibilities:
*Lead and manage the English department to ensure high quality teaching and learning is delivered.
*Develop and implement a challenging and stimulating curriculum that extends learning opportunities.
*Monitor and evaluate the performance of staff and students in the department.
*Foster an environment that nurtures creativity and critical thinking.
*Engage with wider school initiatives and contribute to the strategic planning of the school.
*Manage departmental budget and resources effectively.
*Provide professional development opportunities for department staff.
*Engage parents and the wider community to enhance the profile of the subject.

Requirements:
*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
*A degree in English or a closely related subject.
*Proven experience in teaching English at secondary level with outstanding results.
*Demonstrable experience in leading a team or department, with a track record of improving teaching and learning.
*Excellent leadership and communication skills.
*A passion for English and a commitment to the development of both staff and students.
*Ability to innovate and drive change.
